This section is made up of disorders that are usually first diagnosed in infancy or childhood. Obviously, they often continue on for the rest of the person's life although they may be manifested in different ways. For instance, while many youth overcome conduct and oppositional disorders, others go on to develop an Anti-Social Personality Disorder. Also, many youth with ADHD, Conduct, and Oppositional/Defiant Disorders develop problems with substance abuse. Those difficulties are covered elsewhere in the website.
